Decisions, decisions...

Have had a chance to drive a few family members/friends cars lately that
have a bit more HP than my '92 100S that I have had for nearly 5 years now
('00 S4, '00 Acura 3.2TL, '00 Nissan Maxima SE). Although I love the 100, it
now seems woefully underpowered, so I have been checking into possible
replacements. I originally had been planning on getting an off-lease '98-'99
A6Q 30V. But I test drove a '99 last week, and although its slightly
"quicker" than my 100, it still feels sluggish. Not wanting to spend more
than $25k tops, if I want to remain in the Audi family and have a car less
than 5 yrs old, I'm looking at a later UrS car or possibly a 30V A4 (like
the look, but a bit small interior-wise for my 6'1" frame). Well, I found a
'97 WMB 540i w/ 75k on the clock for $23.9k locally (has extended WMB warr
to 100k). Really was impressed with the V8 power and ride quality. So do I
take the plunge and get the BMW (the 100 would be passed onto a family
member, so it stays in the family), or keep the 100 and wait a couple of
more years to get an off-lease A6 2.7T or 4.2?
