Thanks to all that responded to my boost / acceleration problems on my
'85 5kcst auto...
I found that the medium size hose from the idle stabilizer to the T
intersection on the inter cooler
was ruptured on the underside (about a 1/2" D hole) where it could not
easily be seen. (probably from overheating
as it is right above the turbocharger unit). After a high-tech composite
application of duct and electrical tapes, the car
runs like a champ .... almost ... it now gets a consistent 1.3 bars at
over 1/2 throttle over 3300 rpm and is a pleasure
to drive however; it now almost feels like I need to adjust the mixture
to compensate for the extra boost ...
it seems now it needs more gas at higher throttle openings?!?!

This brings up another question ... as a rule of thumb for someone who
doesn't have an exhaust gas analyzer in his garage ....
should the fuel pressure regulator/stabilizer ( the little thing above
the fuel filter that buzzes esp when car is cold)
be buzzing when the engine is at operating temperature? I currently
adjusted the mixture such that this component
just stops buzzing when the car is at nominal temp ( about half way up
the temp gage ) should I give it more gas
, CW turn, or less CCW turn of the mixture allen key and let it buzz????
When you have a WG spring like mine has,
should you increase the mixture????

I also still have yet to check the "full throttle switch" on the
throttle body for proper operation ... like I say, it now runs better than
it has for at least three years ( I've only put 5000 mile on it in the
last 6 years that I've owned it) but I think it can do better at wide
open throttle...
