My 4KQ was reliable up until 12 yrs and 190K miles, and then the problems
were the old electrics (heck that was 12 years stored outside), the
passenger rear doorhandle and sunroof. Period. 

My A2 GTi is dead nuts reliable, tree on the roof non-withstanding. 

Note these are simple cars. 

My 200Q on the other hand..........

BTW - up until type 44s were beyond the range of years of recommended
used cars based upon owner's reported reliability for Consumer's Reports,
the Audi 100/200 series was one of the more highly recommended used cars.
