I believe complete shift boots not bought new from the dealer at an
outragous price are made of unobtainum along with the injector cooling
shroud. :)
As soon as I replace my shifter linkage, I will be looking at a method of
securing it down. I believe I will either use black headed screws or
perhaps some paper clips glued to the inside of the unit. I MUCH prefer the
boot thats on my wifes 200tqa, its much sturdier it seems. Yet another
example of team doorhandle!
Good luck and let us know if you try the popsicle stick route.

Subject: '87 5kCSQ square plastic shift boot holder needed
Hi fellow Audinauts,
In my quest to repair all the damage done by the
simian lads that replaced my heater core it is now
time to to replace the the square plastic frame that
the shifter boot wraps around and snaps into the
console. It WAS originally held in place by four tabs
which the lads broke off and then attempted to glue
the shift boot back to the console; hoping that I
wouldn't notice. If any of you have a spare one of
these with all four tabs still firmly attached I would
be interested in purchasing it. Otherwise, I will have
to come up with a "cluedge" of my own...I think that
it will have to involve popsicle sticks, glue and
whittling...please help:-\
Praying to the Audi gods for all of us,
Your friend,
Shef
