I had exactly the same thing done to mine by a local Jag shop!
I obviously wasn't going back to complain and give him a second chance
at fixing my car !!!
What I did since mine is an 85 and I didn't want to start a big search
was to just glob on a plastic epoxie to weld all the cracked and snaped
pieces that he left me, and then "dremmel" tooled the globs into shape
after the epoxie was completely cured. Even though the boot covers the
entire piece, I was so proud, I couldn't resist giving it a coat of
black satin acrylic before re-installing it.
