Gauge Pods?

Hi,

I wouldn't say that using the stock location is simple, at least if you want
good speakers. Finding a tweeter that fits and sounds decent are also
difficult. Building a kick panel or pods for the doors are a lot simpler, at
least the way I do it.

I am not a big fan of kick panel mounted speakers, I still haven't heard a
car that sounds really good with that setup. I do agree that the sound field
are a bit more shallow with the dash mounted speakers, but the band aren't
moving around under your dash either. I don't like the forward tilt that I
have heard in all kick panel systems.

I have heard one car that had good imaging and sound stage with door mounted
speakers. That car actually used high end full range speakers (Fostex),
since the listener was more of axis to the speaker closesest to him it
worked very nice. This was one of the best sound stages I have ever heard,
but that was because of the very controlled off axis rolloff of the fostex
elements.

I agree that ADS has a far better range then RF, I only like four products
from RF, the 4" speakers based on the SP series(most), the Punch Pro 128
(Yes only the 8 ohm version), the old punch amps (really makes all music
live), and the old shitty tweeters used in the plates. Only the 4" are in
production today. My opinions on most other RF products range from 'why?'
through 'something is missing' and ends at 'something must be wrong...'

I would really like to hear your car, I am sure that it sounds great.

Jorgen
