Hi gang,

Made some good progress with the car and engine swap. Finally finished
prepping the 87 5kt motor for install into the wifes 89 200tqa. Bolted the
turbo on with its assorted lines. Fitted knock sensor and other sensors
from the original engine. Will replace the timing belt once its bolted down
in the car. Valve cover is painted as is the front and rear timing belt
covers. Replaced thermostat o-ring and o-ring at the rear of the block at
the heater core output. New gasket at the oil filter adapter as well.

Finished tighting everything down and double/triple checking things and then
started the install sunday afternoon with dad. Had to remove the right side
screws holding the front sheetmetal between the fenders that sits over the
headlights intercooler and has the locks for the hood. Pulled that out a
couple inches and engine was able to fit in, man thats a tight fit with the
pulley's on the motor! Lined up tranny and slipped everything together.

Its now resting on the mounts and is bolted to the tranny. Water lines and
various electrical connections need to be finished and have to pull the
injectors, replace the seals and re-install them. A/C compressor is back
on as well. Providing good weather tomorrow, most of the accessories and
connections should be done and am anticipating starting her up either tues
night or thurs night!

Almost there!

Later
