East coast rust/ was: Painful price quotes

    The worst Audi I've seen as far as rust goes was the '86 coupe gt I 
bought almost 2 summers back. Where the flashy metal trim for the rear bumper 
is fastened to the body there were 3 rusted through holes on the drivers side 
(size of my fist). The rocker panel on the drivers side was also rusted 
through in a couple spots. There was similar rust damage on the passenger 
side but all to a lesser extent. This was a one owner car that had been 
driven through every winter here in Northern Michigan. 
    The least rusted car I've ever seen was an '85 4ksq that was native to 
Texas and ended up in VA for a couple of months before I bought it. 
Absolutely zero rust on that car, even where there was a nice gouge in the 
bottom of the passenger side front door. I'd never seen anything like it. 
Wish all my cars were like that.
