Strut tower brace/wheel upgrade/intake mod

Hello all, new lister with some questions on easy/cheap upgrades for an 82
4ks. I'm a student on a budget, but have access to a u-pull yard with
plenty of deceased Audis, as well as a good mechanic, both with decent
prices. I intend to do as much of the work as I can or with the help of a
friend who is descended from a long line of motorheads. Thus I hope to
avoid going to the mechanic as much as possible.
1 I intend to purchase a strut tower brace as soon as possible.
from what I have gathered from researching the audifans archive as well as
other sites, Jamex seems to be the way to go, but I would appreciate any
suggestions/opinions etc.
2 I would like to put some larger wheels on this car, at the very
least upgrading to the slightly larger rims found on later models. If I
can add some width as well, that would be great, but I'm not sure I'm up
to a 5-lug conversion at this time.
3 I was also pondering the air intake situation. This may be a
hare-brained scheme, but it seems possible to build a scoop augmented with
a fan so that air would be pulled into the intake at low speeds and start,
switching off once it can function as a ram intake. The easiest way to do
this would seem to be to control the fan using the thermo-time switch, but
I want the fan to work even if the engine is warm and stopped, or at a
light... If anyone can think of an easy way to switch the fan on and off
depending on the air/car speed, that would be ideal. (Obviously I have
spent _way_ too long looking at Huw Powell's website... ;) )
Thanks all,
M Nicksic
