It's not a hatchback is why. It has a trunk. and a gas tank in the way
right behind the back seat.

Slave cylinder (or master I suppose) might be on its way out, or the
push rod clevis pin may have worn a really egged out hole in the clutch
pedal arm. Hydraulic clutches are not really adjustable, per se,
although there is a setting on the master cylinder pushrod it is not
really an "adjustment" (not like a cable clutch which you tighten once
in a while to take up stretch)
