It was indeed the grounds.  The ground wire's tab on the left assembly appears 
to have heated up, melting the connector a bit and causing the plastic blob 
that 
helps secure the tab to break free.  Of course this wasn't the entire problem, 
as there is some decidedly non-stock wiring that had been added to 
(presumably) fix 
this problem...  Cleaning and re-securing these has fixed it for the moment, 
but I plan on grabbing some stock pieces from the neighborhood you-pull 
yard...
