Ben's 4KQ questions - flasher

when my hazard switch is turned on only the left blinkers flash..
this is regardless of ignition switch being on or off..
but if i turn the right turn signal on all 4 will flash..
even if the car is off.. as long as i have the right turn signal switched
on and hit the hazard switch all 4 flash..

but if i just turn on the hazards (4 way flashers) only the left side flash.

my friend's 90 quattro does the same thing as my 4kq.

any ideas?
