a good heater valve should close properly (and open wide) eliminating
the need for hacks.

here's an attempt to explain the topology of the flasher/turn signal
circuit...
turn signals:
power is sourced from a blk/blu wire which I am hoping is ignition "on".
this goes thru the hazard sw to one term. of the flasher unit.
the signal switch then connects the other side of the flasher to one
side set of lights, and is always connected to the turn indicator light.
the third flasher terminal is grounded, and the flasher simply makes and
breaks the through circuit while bulbs are attached to it. It flashes
twice as fast if only one bulb is working, btw.
4 way flasher:
whne you turn it on, it does a couple of things - it switches the power
source to a red/blu wire which should be battery juice.
it connects both sets of side lights to each other and to the flasher
module,
it connects the hazard indicator to the flasher module output.
while it is on the turn signal switch is essentially shorted out to both
sets of lights.
I hope this helps a tiny bit
