Alright, this is driving me nuts...When I bought the car the middle diff was
ziptied so the car would only operate in RWD. Reason for this was because of
a bad front passeneger side inner cv joint and I had to drive it a bit before
I could actually do the repair. Sine then, I've taken out the whole ps
halfshaft and replaced it with a known good one from an '86 4kq. Okay, all is
good time to put the car in AWD. I found the ziptie, cut it, and pulled the
rod towards the engine to disengage the differential (the diff controls in
the car don't operate, yet). After this when I put the car into gear, befor
even letting out the clutch there is a bad sounding clink, clink, clink sound
coming from the front axles. If I even try to fully put it in gear the sound
gets faster and more violent. I've tried pulling the rod for the diff in and
out, it'll go back to RWD and them go back to the clinking sound, what
gives....I'm starting to think the bad cv joint may be on the drivers side.
I've tried searching the archives but nothing comes up directly related to
this situation. Any idea's? Thanks again.
