hi, after much head scratching, ive found myself a t3 compressor housing an=
d wheel of a sierra cosworth, dont know the a/r yet, but in theory should w=
ork well with the exhaust turbine i currently have, so next i need to sort=
out an exhaust manifold, im not after out and out performance, so ive deci=
ded on a "log" type manifold, fabricated out of a horizontal tube, with 5 r=
unners perpendicular to it going to the head, with a flange on the other si=
de to bolt the turbo up to, this is all stuff i have loafing around so it w=
ill be cheap and easy, it will not be hi performance, but should flow easi=
er than stock. is there any problem using thick gauge stainless, with larg=
e welds? or would i be better off with mild? i also need the dimensions of=
the stock exhaust ports on the 10v, either ke or ng would be good, i need=
the dims between ports, the dim between studs (and their spacing about th=
e port) and also the clearances to the inlet manifold and how far that come=
s out. if no one has a head (or stock manifold) about, not to worry, ill h=
ave to work that out for myself.
And yes, i know its easier with Audi parts, but its cheaand more fun for me=
this way.
Also how do you limit boost, purely by the wastegate? as any manifold vent=
ing will completely screw up fuel metering, i still have to find out if the=
stock fuel regulator will compenste adequately or if "alternative" fuellin=
g may be an issue.
thanks
