As close as you can get it without overheating. Invariably this means
downstream of the turbo a bit. If you have secondary air injection the
mixture is better in the post turbo location. Newer electrically heated low
mass sensors start to operate in less than 10 seconds even when mounted post
turbo. From the volume of the exhaust plumbing ahead of the sensor estimate
the time it takes for 2 grams per second of exhaust gas at 500°C to arrive
at the sensor. If it’s less than 2 seconds you should be in good shape for
idle mixture control.
