All: A dear friend of mine showed me his new purchase, a demo A6 2.7T
Quattro (w. Tiptronic), with 14k miles on it. He loves it, and told me that
he bought it because he just loved the way it drove and because I, his
friend, have had Audi's for so long. The 2 Audi's I have are very old, and
have had numerous problems, mostly electronic and hydraulic -- the usual
demons which possess Audi's from the 80's and early 90's.

I am a bit concerned about his purchase because he tends to keep his cars
till they eventually die (he has a 17 year old Volvo 240 which is still a
reliable runner). I am concerned that he may be in for punishment from the
Audi Gods once the warranty on his A6 2.7TQ has expired.

Does anyone on the list have any experience with later model Audi's, in
particular the 2001 A6 2.7TQ that he has bought ? I had heard here and
there that the 2000 S4's had problems including electronic system failures.
I had also read in the consumer report that the A6 2.7T was unreliable Vs.
the 2.8 V6. I would appreciate any experiences u might have had that are
pertinent. Thanks.

Chander
