Most of the Fumoto fans are, like me, driving second-, third- and even
fourth-hand cars that are 10 or more years old and have had a bunch of
different people taking the drainplugs out, some by hand, some by
chattergun. My 5ktq with nearly 200K miles has about two threads left on
the pan to hold in the drain plug, which always leaked until I put in the
Fumoto. My 200q20v, with 180K miles, looked like it had three thread
patterns (obviously previously crossthreaded steel plug in alloy pan) in
it. I couldn't wait to get the Fumoto in there. It does weep around the
threads, but at least it doesn't drip.
