Funky idle problem - '86 5TQ

Another one for list wisdom (pub wisdom has failed to answer this one...):

During initial 5 minutes of operation (warm or cold, but primarily warm),
the engine nearly refuses to idle.  After a very easy two crank start, it
properly settles at 900 rpm or so for a second or two, then 'blub' 'blub'
'blub' - and dies.  Needs at least one minute of rest before each successive
restart.  Seems like a fuel pressure problem.  Any ideas? Vacuum leak or
component failure?
