The discussion is the chrome trim pieces above the bumper cover at the
rear. In this
image: http://catalog.exist.ru/pic/parts/VAG09002.gif it's items # 14,
15 & 16. I always thought the chromed spacers Fred describes were where
there were fasteners into the body and that the rust resulted from
perforations through the sheetmetal. But his description and the image
here (it's for a '91 200q20v) indicate there aren't any fasteners, just the
spacers rubbing trhough the paint.
