But that "continual discussion" involves those who know the answers
typing them over and over and over and over and over.

Then they stop answering until they see someone else answering wrong...

I know this isn't what you want to hear.  But 95% of what I know about
my cars I either learned on this list (85%) or have shared here after
learning it (10%) - which means it's all in the archives, for what its
worth.  And that is compounded by many others comments on the same
topics at the same time.  Now I know there's nothing wrong with
answering things again sometimes, and it really helps us all to
"practise what we are learning" by trying to teach it or share it, but
some people sometimes have gone to great effort to synoposize their
knowledge in carefully construted posts.

Those are what you miss out on when you ignore the archives.
