Or is it the 12-13+ years?  I follow the same advice
Huw and others do.  Replace all in a system or area
being worked on.  Small splices to repair damage will
only drive you crazy.  Unless it's an emergency, this
should be avoided.  Anyone owned an older home with
200 splices in their copper plumbing?  You can fix a
leak with a small splice and then it'll leak 6" down
from that.  Stuff just reaches the end of its service
life.
