Broken bleed screw

Got the screw out with a big screw extractor, but it's a mess in there. Had
to drill the tip out, it didn't come with the threads. The threads are
untouched, but rusty all the way to the end, so I can't get the new bleed
screw in all the way to seat. How to clean the threads? A metric bottoming
tap is near impossible to find. Perhaps I'll buy a tap and grind the tip
off. More time and $. Any other thoughts out there?
This is the bigger size bleed screw on rear Girling caliper, what size
thread is it?
I wonder how much crud I've introduced into the piston at this point, for a
$98 caliper.
