I can tell you that I did this to an 84 GTI.
But I wouldn't/shouldn't be able to sign as my car's engine was modified and
the car was autocrossed hard. Severly abused. Shortly after I sold it, I
was told that it broke a valve too. Owner wasn't asking for warrenty as I
made it clear the car had been abused.
