Front End Clunks

I had the same clunking symptoms to a tee on my old 80. It turned out
to be loose front ball joints, loose at the control arm mounting points. I
torqued the bolts above spec and had to do so two or three times a month
because of the wickedly stiff suspension. My clunk was worst when backing
up at a very sharp angle out of a friends driveway, boing! Everytime I
accelerated forwards, clunk, then braking, clunk, over and over. Sharp
turning at a very slow speed could cause the clunk and would make the engine
shake visibly, weird.

Good Luck,
