I was beginning to wonder what did the lifters have to do with my poor
german short block....:-)

What was that theory with sulfuric acid that did cause damage to the bores
in the WRs?

Don't worry, such a healthy baby will have a whole lot of pictues!!!!
Anyway, before I put it in my car I'll strip it down and see if it doesn't
need anything like conrod bearings, new rings (don't think so but well!) a
new gasket set and a good clean-up...after the clean-up I'll take a bunch of
pictures so you'll be able to see the hatch marks in the bores and that
weird VW logo with an arrow around it!

That's the problem, I think the car has been completely stripped off and the
guy didn't have the papers anymore (I asked him to check the number of
owners), so I think there will be no way to be sure of what engine it is...
Gerard, is your MC engine's head still off the block? If yes, could you
please measure approximately the recesses in the pistons and tell me which
version of the MC do you have???
Thanks a lot!
