Idle rev

Ti  thanks for the advice on the idle stabilizer, it seems to have helped however now the car( "864KQcs ) idles at about 
 2800 RPMS . I think it is still the valve, does anyone know how to check one out? At Audi parts prices I hate to become a "quick change artist" Thanks ken
