I sorry I didn't catch this the first time by. I
could have saved you the cost of the electric switch.
I had this happen on 2 5k cars. Someone turned the
key really hard and held it there. I think this has
to do with longer start times as the injectors wear
and vac. leaks appear. Americans seem to think if you
turn the key harder the car will start. Same deal as
talking louder when someone doesn't speak english. If
you take some pliers and turn the tang that engages
the electric portion of the switch, it will work fine.
Turn it in the direction so that it will rotate
farther. I think it's counterclockwise when viewed
from the rear. Be careful and only turn it a few
degrees.
