no reverse on urq??

There's enough going on over here already without the latest; the '83 urq
seems to have decided not to let me shift into reverse.  I've never had a
problem with it before.  Fluid level is fine.  No apparent leaks.  The car
had been sitting with only intermittent test drives at the mechanics for a
few months before I got it back about a month ago.  I seem to remember it
was difficult to get into reverse when I first picked it up, but it hadn't
really given me trouble since then.  Maybe a second attempt to get it in
reverse a few times, but this is just like it's locked out and there's no
where to go.  No grinding or anything, just no access.

Any collective advice would be appreciated.  I need to deal with it tomorrow
before something else happens.
