5kq vs 4kq transmission ( was - Ur quattro gearbox woes)

I have both transmissions here in my garage, physically they are the same,
however it is my understanding that one must swap the rear diff to match the
final drive of the given transmission. The 5ktq tranny will not work with
the 4kq rear diff and visa versa...
