Mine burned/melted the bare copper braid from solenoid to motor.  The motor 
was probably seized.  Solenoid still clicked, started fine when pushed.  Got 
a starter at a chain store on Labor Day a few years ago.  In stock and not 
real expensive, went in fairly easily.
