It could be leaky injectors.  It takes a few minutes for them to spray/drip 
excess fuel into the cylinders, then they have too much fuel in them 'till 
you purge them.  Replacing them fixed the same problem for me.

Yes, another possibility is that the check valve on top of your fuel pump 
has failed.  I replaced mine recently with one from my spare pump, it's a 
gold colored tube that screws onto the top of the pump.  I found the 
detailed pump removing instructions from Chris Miller's website very 
helpful.
