Bolted to the block? Or does it look like a fluid sensor(ie, screws in,
hex sides for wrench.)
If it's bolted to the block, it's a knock sensor, and yes, it's important.
If it's a screw-in sensor, it could be any of a number of things. You'll
have to be a lot more specific if you want any of us non-80 owners to be
able to tell you :-)
