Asking for a friend.
His priority is control on freezing rain, icy conditions rather than pure
snow.
Doesn't like the Blizzak concept (i.e. turns to an "all-season" after the
tread wears down 55%), wants a through and through winter tire. Travels
about 75 miles one way over the Catskill Mtns. daily.
I've recommended Nokian Hakka 10's, as I'm not sure if the NRW's meet his
ice need (but meets the high speed high milage need), but he doesn't know
of a supplier that also carries rims (okay, okay, it's for a Subie, he
already has snows and rims for his '93 100CSQA).
Any recommendations for what TireRack or Discount Tire Direct carries
(Alpins, Graspics, Winterfire), or suppliers for Nokians (with Sube
rims)?
TIA,
LL - NY (happy with Kelly Pacemarks, but I'm not sure of their ice
performance. Perfectly fine in hardpack and fresh snow)
