Yup, VW has had the integrated rotary switch since the A3 (Golf/Vento-Jetta)
chassis, and Audi has it on the C4 chassis (98+ A6) and the TT, and now
on the new A4. On the 98+ Audi A4/A8 with the new style center console
(triangle shaped hazard light button), the same thing is accomplished
via electronic interlock and relays.
Audis and VWs *are* better! :-)
