Probably because some one used more powerful bulbs, like 100/80 or even
130/100. Too much heat for the chrome, as the chrome is a very thin layer.
BTDT! I'm not going above stock 55 watts anymore.

Wasted time, money and headlights! Wont be the same, I can tell you that.
Just feel the heat output of the bulb and you'll know that the paint wont
stand that.
