I did that and I got 7000 rpm indicated. So what is the procedure now?

Just as a bit of background, for a while now the check engine light has been
coming on when I am accelerating and I go above approximately 3000 rpm. If
I back-off it goes out. It had been in need of a service so a few weeks ago
I changed the plugs, leads, cap, rotor and air filter hoping that it may
also
have some impact on the light - but it didn't. When the light does come on
it is generally associated with a slight loss of power. Having said all
that, occasionally it doesn't come on and she goes like a rocket.

Any thoughts?

Jon
