Hi George,

I have not messed with the wiring, but perhaps this will help:

On my '88 5kcstq, the radio always has power. To turn off the radio, you
need to turn it off via the volume knob.
The radio also controls the antenna -- when the radio is turned on, the
antenna goes up, when the radio is turned off, the antenna goes down.

The radio is also integrated into the door chime, leave the radio on and
open the door, and the door chime bings.

I would surmise there is an always-on hot lead to the radio, and a switched
hot through the radio to the antenna (and door chime). There might well be
more switched hot leads to the various amplified speakers.

Best,
