A4 noise under intended acceleration

My 1.8tq's started to make a strange, high-pitched trilling whistle while
under "moderate" acceleration in 1st or 2nd gear.  I only hear it with the
windows open, and it seems to be coming from the right front.  It doesn't
happen when just revving, it's gotta be in gear.

Any ideas?  BTW there's a wobble in the harmonic damper due to kissing a
Mustang's a** last winter... I wonder if maybe the engine squirms on its
mounts now enough for someting to rub a belt.  But the whistle doesn't come &
go, it's steadily there until I lift.
