If you want something very "OEM" looking, consider the Nakamichi
line- they are amber illuminated and very low-key and sound great.

I have a two-year-old Sony ES head unit and it doesn't look like a
disco- no mobile displays (I turned them off) and the white on
black display with amber backlit buttons is not offensive at all.

The Kenwood and the Clarion are probably the worst two lines in terms
of fussy displays.
