I replaced the one on the radiator for my car and it
fixed this problem.

Check the ball housing, there is a little cover right
on front of the E brake handle, pop that off, remove
the small screw that holds the shift boot, and pull
the boot up. You will see the ball housing. It
should be mounted solid in there. Mine disentigrated
on me going down Eisenhower pass, it felt like I lost
my transmission, couldn't get any gears without
careful shifting. Also try changing to Redline
transmission fluid. 75w 90 I believe.
