History question, type 44

Sometime in '87 I had my first ride in a type 44 Turbo Diesel. It was a
saloon in white and was the facelifted version with the (then) new improved
interior. A very nice ride at the time and an interesting car, though not as
interesting as its owner who was my landlord at the time, the owner of a
couple of local Chinese restaurants , who would go on to narrowly miss jail
for knifing a customer in an 'accident' in his kitchens, but finally spend
some time inside for mortgage fraud. Always wondered how my rent financed
such an expensive car.

Really? According to the "program", type 44 + diesel + quattro wasn't
available at all.. But it could be wrong.. Anyone imagine a 69 hp 100
diesel quattro? At least such a car doesn't need traction control at
all.. :)
