In every state I've lived in, the insurance companies provide you with a
piece of paper that is your ("not a") proof of insurance card, and a phone
call can straighten it out. Also in every state I've lived in, the ticket
you get (if you get one, because for example, the insurance agent can't be
reached) is removed if you prove you really did have insurance.

Been down this path before. ;)
