My only quibble is with the "studs are illegal in most states" part of the sentence - of course you should check local laws and conditions. See http://www.babcox.com/trnew/stud.htm for a compilation of regulations from May 2000; I count only 9 US states where studs are not permitted at any time. The great majority have restrictions by date or conditions, but stud use will likely be permitted when you might have need for them.
