CV joint - how to ID a bad one?

The other part of my question, which I forgot to include, is how to tell
which side it's on.
Does noise while turning left indicate the problem CV is on the >right< side?

None of the boots are torn, but the outer one on the right side has a
suspect boot clamp ... a zip tie instead of the metal clamp. Some grease
has seeped out over the years, and I suspect some dirt/water has seeped in.
For these reasons this is the joint I suspect is at fault, but I don't
want to replace things based on assumptions as I've been wrong in the past.

Thanks for all the replies.

Dave C.
