CV joint - how to ID a bad one?

One why to tell if you have a bad outer CV joint is to put the car
in neutral with the parking brake on. Twist the axle in question
back and forth, up and down at the suspect joint. If you it is loose
then that is the joint. To make sure check the other side to make sure.
I have only used this procedure on a front wheel drive audi.
Hope this helps
