Megan,
I recently performed the same procedure of which you speak. I had a
complete rust-free pump/accumulator assembly with good mounts and
everything!!! What I did was to dis-assemble everything around the pump
and accumulator and disconnect all of the fuel lines and main filter.
How are your accumulator and pump mounts??? I then replaced the small
white pre pump filter which was really gunky. Then I got some good
quality high pressure neoprane fuel line (7/32" maybe???) and some
stainless hose clamps- all under $10. After replacing the main fuel
filter, I cut the hose to the proper length, tightened everything up,
and voila!!! So far it has been about 4 months and everything is A OK.
Be careful around the fuel feed and return lines, mine started leaking
around the rubber mounts and I ended up having a shop splice in all new
lines which is actually nice piece of mind now. I think they got me for
about $150 to do that.
Good luck!!!
Carl

Subject: fuel line prices 86 4kq
Hello friends!
I am in the process of replacing the rusted leaking accumulator on my 86
4kq and I think I want to replace the short black fuel lines that run
from pump to accumulator and filter to accumulator as well. These are
dealer only, anyone have a good source for these? Lewis says $35.75 and
$40.37, has anyone BTDT in regards to finding these lines somewhere?
Thanks.
Megan
