Hey All,
Gotta love another Audi shade tree mechanic trick !
I thought I'd put this thread to rest. Thank you for all your input on
changing my clutch slave cylinder.
With the help of friend with vast Audi knowledge we managed to replace the
cylinder in a few hours. We knocked the pin (and our knuckles) from
driver's side to passenger (left to right) side. Of course starting the pin
was the hardest part. Once the pin was removed, I pulled the cylinder out
and the shaft was stuck inside with a part of the rubber boot. No problem?
I almost lost it in the tranny, but was able to pull it. We set the new
cylinder in and started to drive the pin back in. As I started the pin, I
tried to put the cylinder back in to where the pin would slide in. Yep, you
guessed it, I drove the pin in too far. So we had to drive it all the way
through and start over. This time mission accomplished!
Once all was attached and ready we tried to hand pump (by using the clutch
pedal) the air bubbles out. Yeah Right! I'll never do this again! It's
great to have a pressure tester/bleeder. The black Quattro is now back on
the road!
This was my first querry into the list and your tips were great! Of course
checking with my therapist helped!
