TAP modded K26?

Hi Javad and list,
I'd like to understand more about these turbo mods, like clipping. What
does this mean and do? I have Maximum Boost by Corky Bell, and I
think it's been a great source of info for me, but I don't think I saw a
single reference to these types of mods. Where are the resources for
this type of info? I'm going to go through the Majestic Turbo website,
now that I've finally looked at it and saw that there is some info there.
I'm very interested in some Garrett products, ever since the lister that
bought Graydon's Monster Q had the modded or otherwise different than
stock turbo go out on him, so he researched RS2 turbos and compared
them to modern technology, and found that the old bushing style and
other features were not modern, compared to some of the Garrett
designs which also include ball bearings (where is that website folks?!)
That guy renamed the Monster Q and now calls it Max Q I believe. Has
anyone seen this website? It's the 5kcstq that is running EFI. There is
no link to the new owner site from Graydon's Monster Q page. I sure
would like to find that webite again, if anyone knows where it is!
There was a criticism of ball bearing turbos, probably here, stating that
they can give out and let those ball bearings into the motor (that was a
crazy post with link to the Miata forum where the guy dumped BB's into
his motor by mistake, btw!) It seems to me the ball bearing stuff is a
great idea, better spool up and all.
On the TAP modded turbo, basically there is a guy offering a used one,
so I was asking about it. The same guy has a torn WG diaphragm, so
perhaps the turbo got some extra work in a bad way. He wants $500 for
it, btw. If you want the contact info, I can provide it to you.
I like the idea of the Garrett stuff, it seems like there are many more
options available.
In particular, are there any VATN options for our cars? How about a
little adapter piece to go from Triple-K to whatever the VATN stuff is? I
know they are expensive, but they cost what they cost since there's not
a lot of competition apparently. Corky Bell seems to be a fan of them.
Thanks for any info!
