88 5000 pooped out...

Listers,

Been having some problems with my 88 5000S. The car has been experiencing 
loses of power. It will come and go when it pleases...

What generally happens is that I will be cruising along and if i give it gas 
it won't respond. It just bogs down. I usually pull over and try giving it 
gas and sometimes it will clear up...

It has happened on start up also. It will idle at the correct RPM's but it 
feels rough. Pushing the gas pedal gets sputtering sounds and no increase of 
RPM's. It does not stall out, but just feels rough with no pedal response. 
When it does this I can only coast at 5-10 MPH until it clears up...

This has been happening on and off for the last 3 days. I have not come up 
with any fault codes. Any ideas?

Plugs, rotor, cap fairly new. Wires are pretty old...

The fuel pump is priming itself and it buzzes faintly. In fact, it's been 
faintly buzzing for 2 1/2 years...
